your duties as a GWIZ volunteer!
As a volunteer, there are not any
special skills required except for a warm friendly smile, the desire
to have a good time and to give our visitors a positive and fun
experience. When volunteering, you will have the opportunity to
interact with our visitors, to share your skills and information
about exhibits to help create the excitement of learning!
Admissions - Welcome guests, sell
admissions and answer questions
Birthday Parties - Assist G. WIZ staff,
party organization, introduce hands-on activities, make a
child's G.WIZ birthday memorable
Exhibit Explainer - Help visitors enjoy and
understand exhibits
Exhibit Maintenance - Repair, clean, and
help keep exhibits in good working condition
Field Trips - Assist visiting schools and
other groups with exhibits and programs
Gardening - Put your green thumb to work
pampering our plants and landscaping
Gift Shop - Greet shoppers, answer
questions, and suggest merchandise
Greeter/Market Research - Welcome visitors, answer questions
with a smile, and collect visitor surveys
Outreach - Assist kids and adults with
special programs, exhibits and activities at schools,
community-wide events
Administrative - Answer phones, call
volunteers and members
Special Program Instructor - Lend your
science and technology-related expertise for special topic
workshops or other activities for kids and adults
Summer Camp Aide- Serve as a teacher's aide
during one or more summer camp sessions for kids Pre-K
through high school
Membership - Provides services to members,
provide information to potential members
Requirements:
- 15 years or older
- Minimum of two days per month
- Desire to contribute to your community
